Welcome to **Quinta da Colina dos Moutinhos**, a privately owned 10-hectare equestrian and agricultural farm in the village of Carapinheira, Montemor-o-Velho, in the heart of Central Portugal. This is not a tourist resort. It is not an amusement park. It is not a commercial campsite. It is simply a real Portuguese farm where people, animals and nature coexist every day. The owner lives permanently on the property and personally welcomes visitors who appreciate tranquillity, authenticity and respect for rural life. If you are looking for crowded holiday parks, organised entertainment or luxury facilities, this is probably not the place for you. If, however, you enjoy silence, open landscapes, genuine hospitality and the simple pleasure of spending time surrounded by nature, we would be delighted to welcome you. --- # A Place to Slow Down Modern life rarely allows us to stop. Here, time follows a different rhythm. You can spend the morning walking through woodland trails, enjoy lunch under the shade of cork oaks, read a book beside the stream, watch the horses grazing in the fields or simply sit quietly while nature continues around you. At night, the sky becomes one of the greatest attractions. With very little light pollution, countless stars become visible and silence returns to the landscape. Many visitors tell us that they had forgotten what real silence sounds like. --- # A Living Farm Quinta da Colina dos Moutinhos is a genuine working farm. Agriculture is part of everyday life. Animals are fed every day. Trees are planted. Fences are repaired. Fruit is harvested according to the season. Gardens continue to grow. Permaculture projects evolve continuously. Every visit is therefore unique. Depending on the season you may witness agricultural work, tree planting, maintenance projects or simply the peaceful daily routine of the farm. Nothing is staged. Nothing is artificial. This is simply everyday rural life in Portugal. --- # Horses, Nature and Permaculture The farm is particularly dedicated to horses. Visitors may observe the horses in their natural environment and learn about the owner's philosophy of respectful horse management, inspired whenever possible by the principles of natural horsemanship. Besides horses, the farm is also home to goats, pigs, ostriches, ducks, geese, chickens and several other animals that contribute to the character of the property. Nature lovers will also enjoy: • Woodland walking trails • A small stream crossing the property • Several ponds • Aromatic herb gardens • Permaculture areas • Seasonal fruit trees • Native vegetation • Quiet shaded places for reading or relaxing The property covers approximately ten hectares, offering plenty of space to explore without feeling crowded. --- # Shared Outdoor Facilities Visitors may enjoy a range of shared outdoor facilities, depending on availability and the normal operation of the farm. These include: • Traditional wood-fired pizza oven • Barbecue area • Outdoor tables in shaded areas • Seasonal above-ground swimming pool (approximately 14 m³) • Trampoline • Swings • Mechanical horse for children • Traditional outdoor games • Toilets with hot-water shower • Washing machine • Wi-Fi in selected areas • Electricity, when available • Drinking water • Chemical toilet cassette disposal and Drinking water refill The facilities are intentionally simple. The emphasis is on nature rather than luxury. --- # Access to the Property Visitors are welcome whether they arrive by motorhome, campervan, caravan, car, motorcycle, bicycle or on foot. The way you arrive is entirely your choice. The contribution requested is for access to this private rural property and its shared outdoor spaces. It is not a charge for accommodation, a camping pitch or any form of organised overnight facility. Visitors remain entirely responsible for organising their own stay and their private activities while on the property, always respecting Portuguese law, the farm rules, other visitors, the animals and the natural environment. The owner does not supervise how visitors spend their private time. The important thing is that everyone behaves responsibly and respectfully. --- # Work Exchange For travellers seeking a longer and more meaningful experience, the farm also offers a **Work Exchange** programme. Subject to prior agreement with the owner, adults may stay on the property without paying the normal access contribution by participating in the daily life of the farm. The concept is simple. Each adult contributes approximately **two hours of practical work per day**. Tasks are selected according to each person's abilities and are organised through the farm's internal task management platform. Activities may include: • Tree planting • Gardening • Permaculture • Building small wooden structures • Painting • Fence maintenance • General farm maintenance • Seasonal agricultural work The remainder of the day is entirely free to relax, explore the property or discover the surrounding region. Many visitors tell us that these few hours of practical work become one of the most rewarding parts of their stay. --- # Respect for Nature Nature is beautiful because it is real. This means visitors should expect uneven ground, insects, mud after rain, agricultural equipment, electric fences, streams and animals living freely in their own environment. Children must always remain under the active supervision of a responsible adult. Visitors are expected to respect wildlife, farm animals, plants and other guests. We kindly ask everyone to leave the farm exactly as they found it—or even better. --- # Private Property Quinta da Colina dos Moutinhos remains, above all, a private family property. The owner lives here. The farm continues its normal daily activities throughout the year. Access is granted personally by the owner and may be refused or withdrawn if visitors fail to respect the property, the rules or other people.
